Karate-Jutsu: Traditional Martial Arts with Real-World Application
Karate-Jutsu is the combative, traditional form of karate that focuses on practical self-defense and the original fighting techniques of the art. Unlike modern sport-based karate, Karate-Jutsu emphasizes real-world effectiveness over competition or performance.
Rooted in ancient Okinawan martial traditions and influenced by Chinese fighting systems, Karate-Jutsu combines powerful strikes, defensive blocks, joint locks, throws, and pressure point techniques. Training is designed to build explosive power, precision, and the mental focus required for real-life situations.
Students not only learn kata (formal patterns), but also study bunkai—the practical application of each movement. This approach ensures that every technique is understood in context and applied with purpose, using principles of balance, leverage, and timing.
Karate-Jutsu is ideal for those seeking a deeper connection to martial arts—where tradition meets function, and every movement is rooted in self-defense. It preserves the original spirit of karate: practical, disciplined, and focused on survival.teamwork, and social connections. Through our programs and facilities, we aim to empower individuals to reach their full potential.
What Is Combat Submission Wrestling (CSW)?
Combat Submission Wrestling (CSW) is a hybrid grappling system created by Erik Paulson. It blends techniques from Catch Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Freestyle and Greco-Roman Wrestling, Judo, and Shooto. CSW is built for both self-defense and sport, especially MMA and no-gi grappling.
CSW teaches you how to take your opponent down, control them on the ground, and finish with submissions. The system combines strong pins from Catch Wrestling, smooth transitions from BJJ, powerful takedowns from wrestling, and leg locks and strikes from Shooto.
Training in CSW includes drilling, live sparring, and progressive resistance, helping students learn how to apply techniques under pressure.
You’ll learn everything from takedowns and escapes to submission chains and how to mix striking with grappling. CSW is perfect for anyone looking to become a well-rounded grappler or MMA fighter.
What Is Combat Submission Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CSBJJ)?
Erik Paulson’s Combat Submission Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CSBJJ) is a powerful blend of traditional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and real-world fighting techniques. Created by Erik Paulson—an expert in BJJ, catch wrestling, and shootfighting—this system focuses on practical grappling for self-defense, MMA, and high-level competition.
While standard Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu often sticks to sport rules and points, CSBJJ is more combat-oriented. It teaches you how to control your opponent, move smoothly between positions, and finish fights with submissions—whether you're wearing a gi or not.
CSBJJ includes techniques from wrestling and catch wrestling, adding powerful tools like leg locks, neck cranks, and other advanced submissions. Training is intense and hands-on, with drills and sparring designed to build fast reflexes and strong instincts under pressure, the approach is all about adaptability. You’ll learn to chain moves together, stay in control, and respond to any situation. Whether you’re preparing for self-defense, MMA, or just want to become a more complete grappler, CSBJJ gives you a well-rounded, effective skill set.
